The Pro Loco
The history of the current “Pro Loco Col San Martino APS” began in 1957 with a group of enthusiasts who came together to promote the local economy, foster the social development of the community, and highlight the cultural and natural heritage of Col San Martino.

It is with the aim of interpreting and embodying this spirit that the Pro Loco of Col San Martino has included the motto “Together for our local area” in its logo. That spirit was expressed in the 1950s by many people in Col San Martino, who contributed some of their meagre resources in the hope that their efforts would be recognised in the work and projects of the Pro Loco. Significant in this regard is the letter written by an anonymous resident on 10 November 1958 and preserved in the historical archive:
“… I am a member of the Pro Loco and would like to express my great delight at the success of the Grape Festival, which has introduced our products to a much wider audience … I appreciate the Pro Loco’s ambitious projects and, with great hope, I too will contribute 500 lire when I receive my pay packet”.

It is a fine example of sharing personal resources (however limited) with and for the local area – ‘our local area’. This is what the Pro Loco of Col San Martino would like to remind the younger generations and all those who visit us. This is the spirit that has always inspired the people of Col San Martino and their Pro Loco, and continues to do so today.
